Music for Veterans
We are a Non-Profit organization serving the Men and Women who have
served our country. Our mission is to Improve the quality of life for our Veterans
and their families by providing a creative environment of camaraderie and communication,
and to facilitate healing and peace through playing a musical instrument.
If you are a Veteran or currently in the Military, join us !
Don't have an instrument? We'll provide one!
Don't play? We'll teach you!
Playing a musical instrument provides Veterans an environment of creative expression, communication, healing and peace. Just 30 minutes a day is enough to create a dramatic improvement in mood and long term happiness. Many service men and women suffer physical and emotional injuries and the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) leading to problems such as broken families, drug addiction, depression, homelessness and suicide. *
* Latest statistics (from US Census Bureau, Office of the Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs, and local VA) state that 6% of soldiers returning from war commit suicide.
Talk with a Veteran who has served our country in a war over the past 70 years and you may see the suffering that they carry. Music for Veterans offers a life-long method of attaining peace through learning to play an instrument.
This non-traditional "Music Therapy" is an effective, easy, and fun method of addressing emotional issues. The real impact of this program comes from the fact that many Vets are reluctant to seek treatment because they believe the “stigma” of a label such as PTSD will follow them throughout their lives making it difficult to find a job and provide for their families.
Veterans who will not participate in a VA program freely participate in Music for Veterans because government records are not kept on their participation in our program.
